The Student's Role
- Adhere to the employer's work schedule and requirements, and to Program policies and procedures.
- Assume personal and professional responsibility for actions and activities.
- Use a courteous, enthusiastic, and professional approach to policies and procedures within the occupation and organization.
- Meet academic performance and conduct standards set forth by The Career Center and the employer.
- Provide the employer and the CCNY Program Coordinators with 2 periodic progress reports on the quality of work and study assignments.
- Work effectively with peers and supervisors.
- Notify the CCNY Career Center Office and the employer of changes in student's status.
- If a non-citizen, secure all the required work permits for employment.
The Employer's Role
- Designate a staff member to maintain liaison with the City College Program Staff.
- Inform school of work experience opportunities and provide adequate job descriptions promptly.
- Establish work schedules consistent with the College's academic calendar that enable students to complete the Experiential Education program.
- Orient the student to employer's mission, policies and procedures.
- Select appointees referred by the Center Office in accordance with EEO principles.
- Process all personnel actions and keep necessary records related to student employment.
- Provide quality work assignments related to the student's academic studies or career goals where they can learn and be productive.
- Provide progressive and diversified work experiences to prepare students for occupations in which they have an interest.
- Conduct appraisals and counsel students regarding their performance, complete necessary forms, and share progress reports with the Center Office.
- Notify the Career Center Office of any change in a student's status.
The Career Center Office's Role
- Designate a representative to work with the employer's Program Manager/Supervisor.
- Inform eligible students of the employer's work experience opportunities.
- Refer interested and qualified candidates to the employer without discrimination.
- Correlate work and study in a manner that will expand the student's educational and personal development.
- Furnish the employer with requested information related to student's field of study and academic standing.
- Monitor academic progress.
- Inform the employer of any change in a student's status, including reports on student's progress and performance.
Faculty's Role
- Inform students in their departments and classes about career/intemship opportunities and benefits of participation.
- Refer students to The Career Center Office for enrollment in the Program. Review job descriptions for eligibility for course credit.
- Award course credit upon satisfactory performance.
- Provide advice to The Center's Experiential Programs.
- Help develop career related work experience jobs from their employer and professional contacts.
