Schedule Changes and Cancellations
Student No-Shows
The unprofessional, irresponsible act of failing to appear for a scheduled interview is not taken lightly. It results in embarrassment to the College and The Career Center, and it jeopardizes other students' opportunities to interview with the same employer.
- Any candidate failing to appear for a scheduled interview will be required to write a letter of apology to the employer, a copy of which should also be sent to The Career Center. A second no-show will result in the student's expulsion from the Professional Recruiting Programs for the remainder of the semester, and in a report of the incident to the appropriate dean.
Candidate Cancellations
Candidates forced to cancel an interview appointment must do so by noon of the day before the interview; such notice gives The Career Center an opportunity to contact alternates, and an opportunity to interviewers to modify their schedules, travel arrangements, etc.
Recruiter Cancellations/Postponements/Schedule Changes
Candidates checking on their "pre-selection" with The Career Center during the week before a scheduled interview date will certainly be informed regarding cancellations or any other employer-initiated changes in the interview schedule. Employer cancellations will generally result from a lack of student interest -- too few resumes submitted to justify an interviewer's trip to City College.
Candidates will be notified by phone and/or e-mail, however, when such changes are made at the last minute. In such instances, Career Center staff will appreciate candidates' understanding that we are not responsible for employer cancellations and schedule changes; we only communicate them.
Finally, it is every candidate's responsibility to inform The Career Center regarding changes in telephone number and/or mailing/e-mail address.
